Abstract

ABSTRAK

Republik Demokratik Kongo (RDK) dan pertambangan kobaltnya telah menjadi sorotan dunia. Hal ini dikarenakan Kongo merupakan penyumbang utama pasokan kobalt dunia, komponen penting dalam baterai litium-ion untuk kendaraan listrik dan perangkat elektronik. Namun, dalam praktiknya, kegiatan pertambangan yang dilakukan oleh perusahaan Tiongkok memiliki dampak kesehatan dan lingkungan yang serius terhadap masyarakat di RDK. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan permasalahan kesehatan dan lingkungan yang disebabkan oleh pertambangan kobalt di Kongo, dan memberikan solusi yang dapat dipertimbangkan untuk memperbaiki situasi di RDK. Tinjauan pustaka sistematis digunakan untuk mengumpulkan data dari jurnal ilmiah, laporan dari organisasi internasional, dan sumber terpercaya lainnya. Analisis kualitatif dilakukan untuk menentukan dampak lingkungan dan kesehatan dari kegiatan pertambangan. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa pertambangan kobalt telah menyebabkan degradasi lahan, deforestasi, serta pencemaran air dan tanah akibat limbah beracun. Kesehatan masyarakat juga terdampak, terbukti dengan meningkatnya penyakit pernapasan, keracunan kronis, dan gangguan kulit akibat paparan bahan kimia berbahaya. Kesimpulan dari penelitian ini adalah diperlukannya regulasi yang lebih ketat, pemantauan yang efektif, dan pendekatan berkelanjutan untuk mengurangi dampak negatif pertambangan kobalt. Kolaborasi antara pemerintah, perusahaan, dan masyarakat setempat sangat penting untuk menciptakan sistem pertambangan yang bertanggung jawab dan ramah lingkungan, serta memastikan perlindungan kesehatan dan kesejahteraan masyarakat.
